About Installation
Pool kits can be installed by homeowner or local contractor using the provided installation instructions. Technical support from Glimmerglass is always available.About Delivery
Pool kits are shipped from the Glimmerglass manufacturing facility in Fort Plain, NY.Minimum delivery $300.00 plus permits and escorts if necessary. $4.50 per mile plus permits and escorts if necessary. Depending on current fuel costs, there may be a fuel surcharge added.
Planning For Your Pool
The first step to having a pool is to plan. Plan ahead, plan to add value and plan to have family fun.Consider all your options and obligations before breaking ground. As with all home improvement projects, inground pools are subject to building and zoning regulations and permits. The rules differ from town to town but basically you have to be concerned with set back distances from property lines, septic tanks, wells, sewer lines, wetlands and so on - make sure you get approval before work starts.
There are also codes concerning pools available on the NY state website.
Placing Your Pool
Evaluate your yard and pick a spot for your pool. It may require grading, retaining walls and trees or stumps removed.Consider SOLAR EXPOSURE.
Take advantage of the sun's warmth by placing your pool in an open area away from trees and shrubs. Such a location will not only warm up water, it will also reduce the number of leaves that drop into your pool.
Consider WIND BREAK
Building a pool in a windy locaiton increases evaporation, which will require you to constantly add water to maintain the proper level. Strong wind can also make you feel uncomfortable cool when you are wet. Create a windbreak by erecting a solid board fence or by planting a row of thick shrubs or trees.
Consider PROPER INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
Make sure your installer addresses necessary drainage in your pool's location. Sometimes it is not possible to place your pool high and dry because of your yard. It is important that proper drainage must be in place before the pool is installed.
